Child Obesity

With some alarming and concerning government statistics being issued, several of the teachers and I proposed that some information be made readily available to our pupils about the risks that come with child obesity. After reading that a staggering one in four children will start primary school either overweight or obese, with that figure rising to one on three by the time they leave for secondary school, we knew that something had to be done.

After getting the okay from the Head, we looked into information on the internet, and found obesity consultancy, Globesity. Their website was excellent and provided us with vast amounts of information about the dangers of becoming overweight.

They provide a consultancy service for young children that looked the ideal way to deliver such an important message. We arranged an appointment and made the arrangements for one of their consultants to visit the kids.

The presentation was fantastic, reinforced by an informative workbook for each pupil, plus hands-on props and classroom games to make the learning an enjoyable and productive experience. Globesity have really helped show our students the big picture.
